Do you find it difficult to enjoy your favourite foods?
Are you lacking in confidence or embarrassed to smile because of missing teeth?
Do you have problems with loose or troublesome dentures?
The great news is that we can help – eat and smile with confidence again

Dental implants are the most reliable way to replace missing teeth

Dental implants are fixed in place. The teeth attached to implants are secure and are not removable, so you can smile confidently and eat the things you like, without having to worry about unsightly gaps or loose dentures.

Implants are more popular than ever as a great long-term option to restore your chewing ability and your smile.

Other local dentists trust us to provide high-quality, reliable care and a great service for their patients. This means that we accept referrals from dentists and provide Dental Implant treatments for their patients from Ripon, Northallerton, Easingwold, Knaresborough, Harrogate and more.

      Why Choose Dental Implants?

      Penny from Topcliffe

I am so happy with the result and would 100% recommend implants. To me the cost of the treatment is more than offset by the confidence I now feel in smiling, eating and talking. Thank you Andy and everyone at Market Place Dentistry.

Implants are the closest possible substitute for a missing natural tooth

      • Eat a normal healthy diet without difficulty
      • Smile and speak confidently with replacement teeth that are fixed in place
      • Implants last longer than any other type of replacement tooth, with 90-95% success at 10 years
      • Implants help to preserve natural teeth because adjacent healthy teeth do not have to be shaved down as with bridges
      • Gaps are eliminated which makes plaque removal easier, and prevents adjacent teeth leaning and tipping into the space
      • Implants stimulate and preserve the jawbone, preventing it from receding away after a natural tooth is removed

Implants are self-supporting and do not transmit strain to the natural teeth

How long do dental implants last?

Implants are the longest-lasting type of replacement tooth, with 90% success at 10 years. Many will last considerably longer than this if well maintained, making implants a great long-term option.

By comparison, tooth-supported bridges would usually achieve around 50-80% success at 10 years.

      Susan from Easingwold

His professionalism and competence coupled with his warmth and easy manner made a quite daunting prospect a surprisingly comfortable experience. I’m now 6 months on and have to make a conscious effort to think which tooth is the implant. Overall I am thrilled with the service of Andy and the whole team, I could not recommend them enough.

      What are Dental Implants?

      Dental implant diagram

A dental implant is a titanium post which we use to replace a natural tooth root. The implant fuses to the jawbone to create a strong foundation for replacement teeth.
A dental technician makes a bespoke porcelain crown to fit precisely onto the implant, and to fit neatly into the vacant space, which provides a close replica for the missing natural tooth.

A small holding screw fixes the crown in place on the implant, going through an access hole in the crown and into the centre of the implant. We seal over the access hole at completion.

      FAQs

      Does the treatment hurt?

For dental implant treatment, we use local anaesthetic in the same way as other dental treatments. This means that you will be fully conscious and aware of what is going on, and the treatment is usually pain-free.

As you might expect with a minor surgical treatment, the area will be sore afterwards and you may experience some mild swelling or bruising. However, discomfort is usually easily managed with normal painkillers and the majority of our patients find that the area feels quite comfortable after just a few days.

      Who carries out my treatment?

Tarj Gill is the implant dentist at Market Place Dentistry. Tarj has been working in this field since 2014 and is currently embarking on a masters degree in implantology.

Together, Tarj and the team at Market Place Dentistry can usually provide all your dental implant treatment from start to finish and aftercare, though for some complex procedures we may enlist the help of a specialist oral surgeon.

If your dentist has referred you to Market Place Dentistry, your own dentist may wish to fit the teeth to the implants themselves if not we are happy to do this on your dentists behalf should they wish.

How much do dental implants cost?

A dental implant to restore a single tooth starts at £2550. We will provide you with a personalised estimate and breakdown of fees before your treatment starts.

Implants usually have a higher upfront cost than alternative treatments (e.g. bridge or denture) but will almost always last significantly longer with a lower risk of complications. Because of this, implants are often less expensive than other treatments over the medium to long-term, and make an excellent investment for your dental health and quality of life.

What if I don’t have enough bone for dental implants?

A successful implant needs enough bone to support it. As part of your assessment, we will check how much bone is available for implants.

If there is not enough, we can usually add extra bone via a minor surgical procedure. We would stitch your gum over the top, and leave the bone for 4 months to mature. After this, we fit the implant into the bone that has formed.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment would usually take between 4 and 10 months to complete depending on your situation. Most of this is healing time. For more information, download our information brochure
